Make Some Noise
H E L L O W O R L D
I’m Liz Bittar, a Brazilian consultant, training designer and facilitator who lives in Brazil, works in Brazil and uses Portuguese as the main language at work, most of the time.
So, why this blog in English? We’re actually trying to “make some noise”.
As a training designer, I have already written many Training Programs in English, which you can see in my profile. This led to a new area of business, the English Business Center, focused on expatriates and workshops in English - mainly presentation, communication and facilitation skills, so far.
Our areas of expertise in the company are Human and Organizational Development, Communication, Media Training and Media Relations, Mergers and Acquisitions and Due Diligence, Marketing and Trade Marketing, and now the English Business Center. We also offer trainings in Spanish, by the way.
But just recently I have found the wonders of social media, which I intend to discuss, as well. My feeling is that social media for business purposes in Brazil is something rather new and implies, of course, in cultural change. People do not benefit from it the way the could, and the language barrier is not the main reason.
That’s why not only technological advances, but mostly cultural aspects of social media interest me the most.
Just to give you an example, this year I have been struggling to work in a collaborative way with my son’s school in order to prepare teachers and students beyond what I call “mediocre use of the internet”. No need to invest a penny, I volunteer my time and the little I know - still, you think they are slightly enthusiastic about the idea?
Change of culture, people, change of culture. Not easy…
